Polyurethane (PU) is the ideal compound to use for shock absorption and vibration dampening. Because polyurethane has different durometer (range of hardness) it can be used for anything from shock/vibration absorbing applications, to dampening bumpers or bumper pad applications. Precision Urethane can custom fabricate a product to specific chemical make-up & durometer in order to provide the best shock absorption performance.
In our 48+ years of research and development, we have created “dead” formulas that have little or no rebound and tremendous abrasion resistance.

Shock Absorption
When it comes to PU shock absorption products there are two factors that effect the spring rates, shape factor and durometer. When these two factors are adjusted, many custom products can be created to meet different application needs.
Generally bumpers, bump stops or shock absorption pads should not be compressed more than 25% of the original height.
